For systems that require routine attention, we offer scheduled maintenance service calls at appropriate intervals for maintaining system performance. Sanitary lines that are subject to fouling from heavy use or debris build up (roots, grease. etc.) are cleaned at regular intervals to maintain trouble free performance.
From your history of the problem, along with our observations, we can suggest a course of action for you to consider.

Grease Traps

Guidance on Grease Traps
- Best practise is to keep fat, oil and grease (FOG) out of the drains. Grease traps should only be seen as a last line of defence.
- Check the grease trap regularly, don't wait until the grease trap is full before emptying it. Emptying it earlier is easier and prevents excess grease being discharged into the sewer. Grease discharging into the sewer will cause blockages and other problems.
- Remove all the grease and clean the trap in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. Do not flush any of this removed grease back down the sewer. Instead store it in a suitable container ready for collection. Dispose of grease via a licensed waste contractor.
- If there is little or no grease in the trap, check that it is installed correctly. A flow of hot water or detergent from an appliance that is too close (e.g. dishwasher) will prevent the trap from being effective. The grease needs to be cooled down when slowly passing through the trap to be collected.
- You are at risk of commiting an offence if you discharge fat, oil and grease into the sewers. Grease traps must therefore be properly managed.
